Colors of Agua

The steady flow of a river

carves a canyon.

You trickled through me -

courageous, independent.

I, all solid. You, all liquid.

You never asked me to change,

but I found my surface etched.

A valley in me,

one pebble carried off at a time.

Where I was flat, I am now steep,

and when they stand at my edge,

the congratulate me

on the space you opened.
